Well im back... and im not here with good news. May 21 2008 is the day that VMK WILL CLOSE FOR EVER. Now this may be upsetting, as it is to me, but vmk was created to celebrate disneyland's 50th anniversary. That was in 2005 and the staff thinks it is time to stop. So... That was it goodbye my VMK

Woah that's huge gaming news Gold and very sad. I just checked out their newsletter, it said:
"Eventually though, all promotions must come to an end, so I'm announcing today that on May 21, 2008, VMK will open our virtual gates for the last time. You read that right: VMK was never intended to last forever – we'll close the game for good at the end of day on May 21st, 2008." Yavn Speaks, VMK newsletter.
I know a lot of VMK'ers visit Teen Online. Everyone will need to find somewhere else to go. Will it be Club Penguin, Puzzle Pirates, Pirates of the Caribbean Online or somewhere else? It's difficult though to say goodbye to the friends you've made along the way.......Maryanne

Books - Dial L for Loser by Lisi Harrison
I loved the way that the kind of underdog of the clique gets her chance to shine. But don't be fooled she doesn't have it that great as Massie gets VERY jealous and takes every chance to sabotage her. Claire gets the part in the movie and becomes friends with one of the other stars, but will she find out what a true friendship really means.....the only way to find out is to go out and read this book. You won't regret it. And also read the other books in the Clique series aka my fav book series!

Books - Chess Rumble by G. Neri
This book is written in free-verse about a troubled innercity teen who is one fight away from being kicked outta school. As the reader, we feel sorry for Marcus and we feel his anger and frustration at the way his life is going. The book is a quick read, has awesome illustrations and a true, satisfying conclusion. Urban teens, innercity boys will see themselves in the characters; voices that aren't represented very often in today's teen literature.

Books - To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee
I had to read this book for school, and I'm guessing that I'm not the only one, so for anyone who wants to know what they're getting into; here's the rundown:
I'll start by saying that I was surprised it was actually decent. We've had to read a lot of bad stuff for school, but this one was an exception to the rule. While many people may find it a bot slow to start (as I did) it is well worth continuing. Set during the mid 1930's, it telles the story of Jem and Scout (Jean Louise) Finch, beginning with the more ordinary stuff, like what they do suring the summer when school's out, and how they get on with he other members of the community, including their father. As the book progresses, it takes on more serious issues, including the trial of a (now, I think this is politically correct) man of African-American lineage. As you may have guessed, the (often violent) predjudices of Americans in the early 1900's ensured that the case was frought with various tense political situations on both sides of the proverbial 'coin'. Anyway, though the case is (arguably) what made the book famous, it doesn't mean the Lee got his sales purely on subject material. This book is a very well written peice that explores many issues in a comprehensive and ultimatly interesting way. If you have to read it, be very glad it's not 'Coraline'.

Games - SWAT 4
Game genre: First Person Shooter
Rating (Aust): MA15+ - Mature accompanied
Rate the game: 8.5
SWAT 4 is an awesome Tactical Shooter with a difference. You get to control not just yourself, but a whole squad of the guys from Special Weapons And Tactics. You have to navigate quite a number of difficult situations using state-of-the-art equipment. Mirroring doors, radio controlling and up-to-the-minute sniper reports. The AI is fantastic; the best I've seen in any game made before this one. The troops look and act real. The only things that detract from the game are its very loooooooong load times for each level, and the lack of much variety. All of the missions involve walking into a buliding, and subduing all resistance. You get extra points for doing this without just blindly shooting. You can only 100% the game using non-lethal methods, and killing civillians is a sure-fire fail. That said, the game does involve lots of shooting and swearing, and some of the situations the player finds themselves in are, perhaps, themed maturely. If you're not into realistic insanity or psychos who hide bodies in their apartments, this possibly won't suit. It's fairly grity. Still, if you like some tactics with your shoot-em-ups, this is that game for you. Two expansion packs are also avalible.

Books - The Black Dress Mary MacKillop’s Early Years by Pamela Freeman
The Black Dress is written with Mary MacKillop looking back on the influences of her life, particularly focusing on her childhood. Pamela Freeman presents Mary MacKillop as a girl who is trying to do the right things by her parents, church and the community as taught to her by her parents yet at the same time she is learning about the world in which she will live as an adult, both the good and the bad. Pamela Freeman highlights the struggle between families, communities, those who have money and those who don’t within the context of Australia from 1845-1861 with other dates until 1909. Through highlighting this struggle Pamela Freeman shows the impact of what happened on Mary MacKillop’s life and therefore, her resulting choices with her life.

All claire wants is to be a part of teh clique. What do you think will happen?

Music - Middle Of Nowhere by Hanson
Although this cd was released in may of 1997, i believe that this is one of the best cd's released.
The album is pop, yes. But the vocals and musical arrengents are very advanced for band members Issac(17), Taylor(13) and Zac(11).
If you ever get the chance to listen to this cd, you should take it up. If you don;t know who Hanson are, they released 'MMMBop', their first single from this album. Since then, they have released 4 more albums, but this one still beats them all.
This was released when they were all recognising their talent, which makes the album very experimental.
Please, don't think that the album will be bad, just because it's three brothers, and its under the pop genre. Give it a chance, you might actually enjoy it.
